I can’t stop thinking about the pieces in the August issue. I really liked how it came together, and how easily it all coordinates. When I was scrolling back through, I noticed some themes - those deep fall greens, studs, a few stripes, strong silhouettes, and clothing that has a general ease about it. They’re pieces that are comfortable and easy to wear, but even the “basics” in the issue pack a punch.
I pulled three of my favorites and styled them as an exercise to see which pieces I would get the most mileage out of. Here’s what I came up with, pulling solely from the August issue…
Before we dive into the looks, I want you to know that you can style most of these pieces with things from your closet. For me, I might buy one piece for the month that stands out, and style looks similar to these from my closet. So don’t feel like you have to have *the exact green bag* to make it work!
And secondly, I am pulling pieces that I really stand behind. The material is quality, the pieces are well-made, and they’re going to last you a really long time.
Okay! Let’s start styling the August issue.
THE SWEATER DRESS
Ooofff I love this dress. It’s one of those things that I’d pack for a trip knowing I could wear it in just about any situation. You can toughen up the softness of the material with a leather jacket, make it feel a little more fun with that amazing flower belt, or keep it simple with fall boots and a jacket over the shoulders. The colors and stripes are bold, but they are classic and will live forever in your closet. Shop The Sweater Dress.
THE SWEATER SKIRT
I own a sweater skirt very similar to this. It’s by Tory Burch, and I’ve had it in my closet for at least 5 years (but I think more!). I get use out of it year round because of the heavier weight, which allows it to anchor an outfit so much better than its flowy skirt counterparts. This green color is on-trend for fall, but also a year round classic that will live well beyond this season. Shop The Sweater Skirt.
Before I move on I have to tell you - if you wear the first look, keep that black button down over the skirt with just a few buttons buttoned instead of tucking it all in - it’ll keep it looking cool and not stuffy.
THE PERFECT BLACK DRESS
I have one million black dresses in my closet, so why is this one screaming at me? The u-shaped neckline, the swishy fabric, and the drawstring detail at the bottom make this dress special. It is a versatile piece that can be styled so many ways, but it can also just be worn with Birks when you run out to grab coffee.
I have this goal of replacing the leggings and sweatshirt I wear on early school mornings with something a little more put together, and I think this dress is the ticket! Of all of the things in the August issue, I think this is the one I’m snagging because the possibilities. are. endless! Shop The Perfect Black Dress.
And there we are! I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did. You can find the links to everything HERE.

This sweater dress from Staud is SO good. 😍 I have also been on the hunt for the perfect leather jacket and really like several from Madewell. I'm loving this trench: https://www.madewell.com/p/womens/clothing/jackets/leather-jackets/the-signature-trench-coat-in-leather/NO890/?ccode=BK5229. Thank you, Jordan!
