Happy Friday! I hope you’ve had the best week. We have been absolutely non-stop with work events and catching up with family and friends since we’ve been back in Nashville. It’s been so fun, and we have lots more happening this weekend! Somehow, a busier schedule feels easier to manage in the summer because everything feels a little lighter and looser. Or is it just me??
Before we dive in, just a little note that this is a long post and you’ll need to click through to Substack so it doesn’t get cut off.
And now — my most worn and used as of late!
RED LINEN SET
I talked about this set back in January when I was dreaming of warmer temperatures. I have purchased a few summer sets and this is by far my most worn! I wore it on weekend coffee walks (above) in Brooklyn, and I wore it over my bathing suit at the pool on Memorial Day. The red color is so perfect and the linen is cool and breezy. I went true to size in the top (it’s oversized) and one up in the bottoms. Linen Shirt, Linen Easy Shorts
THE ZEBRA DRESS
I got this cute little zebra dress on a whim while I was shopping in Soho. This is one of those easy, comfy, affordable dresses that works for so many things. Zebra Dress, Ivory Flats
GENIE PANTS
sent a newsletter all about genie pants and I was so delighted that genie pants are one of the 4 pairs of pants that I bought for my maternity wardrobe. There are lots of fun, silky versions in stores, but I’m finding cotton/utility versions the most wearable. Mine are unisex from Uniqlo (sold out), but I’m loving these. They’re less dramatic because they don’t have elastic at the bottom, but I think they still hit the mark. Pants, TeePEARL NECKLACE
Say hello to my summer outfit hero — this pearl necklace. The cylinder beads make it feel a little unexpected, while the white pearl color is easy to style and pops against summer skin. I love pairing this with a white tank and white easy pants. This necklace kicks all of my outfits up a notch, and I never wear it without getting compliments. A STAND-BY LEOPARD DRESS
I bought this dress years ago from H&M, and have been looking for something nicer and similar since then. I haven’t found anything yet, but I think this dress is the perfect summer alternative. The wins: a strong print makes a statement and looks thoughtful (great for lazy dressing days) and a forgiving silhouette makes it a true stand-by that will work in any phase of life. It’s that dress that you’ll throw in your suitcase for any trip, knowing it’ll save you when something unexpected turns up. Leopard Dress, Black Sandals
SOME SHOES I’M LOVING
I wear my summer sandals into the ground, so it’s always good to have the next pair on deck. Here are some I’m seriously considering… If I could easily bend down (lol), I’d be all over these Madewell sandals. My next contender is these bad boys — that patent leather is so unexpected on a sandal, and the bordeaux color will sit well with browns and blacks. Cast your vote for your faves in the comments! Tan Suede Sandals, Snakeskin Sandals, Patent Leather Flip Flops, Eyelet Black Sandals
THE HOTTEST SUNGLASSES
Sorry, but they are the hottest. I know I mention these sunglasses a lot, but they are one of those staple pieces that I invested in and I never go anywhere without them. Sunglasses, shoes, and jewelry always pull together a look, these do it so beautifully. Sunglasses
A DRESS I CAN’T STOP LOOKING AT
This is the type of dress that you invest in once and you have in your wardrobe for the rest of your life. It will always fit (I love a tent-y dress for that reason) and it will never go out of style. The cotton-silk is luxurious, but nobody has to know it but you!
Pair it with a fun summer bag, a good pendant necklace, easy sandals, and my favorite sunnies. Dream Dress
Last but not least!
And a few things I’ve been using that you need to know about…
Yesterday morning, I found my husband in our laundry room ironing his tshirts. I was dying, and quickly introduced him to my new favorite tool that irons, steams, and presses without an ironing board. It’s so portable and easy, and my cotton poplin dresses have truly never looked better!!! This thing makes life so much easier. Nori (this was kindly gifted but I’m only sharing because it is that great.)
My legs never quite recovered from winter. I’ve been wanting to order from this brand for so long, so I used Mother’s Day as an excuse to treat myself and it is above and beyond what I was hoping for. The combo of the exfoliator and the balm made my skin feel so soothed, the ingredients are clean, and the scent is non-invasive. My mom came to my house with peeling skin from the beach and the set also worked wonders on her! If you’re not an exfoliator gal, go for the serum, but I think the duo is most effective. Body Exfoliating Duo
Okay, that’s it! Happy shopping and TGIF.
