Hi everyone! I took a couple weeks off and have had a hard time getting back into things with the devastation in Los Angeles. It really kinda threw me off and I felt pretty silly talking about moodboards and shopping. But, I think in hard times, it’s important to get creative and play, and reduce anxiety by letting your mind dream.
So we’re having some fun with the January mood! If I’m being honest, I am not my best self in the winter. After Christmas, I kind of just hibernate until the temperatures warm up. So I thought moodboard should keep the fun going from December.
UGH! Does this not make you excited to get dressed up and have a little cocktail party at your house? If only I had that silver couch… dreams.
THE JANUARY EDIT
As far as my January shopping edit, I’ve been thinking a lot about upgrading my outfits by switching out a basic item for something a little more fun. wrote perfectly about moving from “sad basics to statement pieces” here, and dove in here.
The swap concept is simple - take a silhouette that you’re really comfortable with, and use that style to add in some color or texture to your outfit. I love my trusty Converse sneakers, but silver sneakers pack a punch (and still go with everything). A classic blazer is awesome, but one with a strong detail makes the whole outfit look more styled. And a big one for me is swapping a white button down for one with some color, like this red stripe.
These swaps turn my basic (and beloved) jeans and tee into a look that feels a little more considered.
LOOKS FROM THE EDIT
I saw this mom at school wearing little flared leggings and they looked so cute on her! I love this outfit for moms or for WFH days where you want to feel put together, but super comfy. Every single item in this look can be worn so many different ways.
Rugby top, Mini flare leggings, Sneakers, Bag, Sunglasses, Coat
Drape that cashmere sweater over your shoulders and you’ve got an easy little daytime look! Typically I would have done a white button down and maybe more neutral shoes, but I love the red makes a very basic outfit feel so much more fun.
Also, I recently bought this suede tote after searching for the right one for months. It holds my entire life yet still looks polished thanks to its structure and quality. So good!
Button down, Sweater, Denim, Suede tote, Convertible necklace, Ballet flats
A cozy sweater dress and a good pair of boots make me feel unstoppable in the winter. I’m obsessed with this little pouch bag, and the combo of that + the rest make this look so versatile.
Sweater dress, Boots, Bag, Fish necklace, Sunglasses
You can shop all of the items from the January issue HERE — there’s way more than what I can fit in this newsletter!
What are you looking for and shopping for in January? I’m considering doing a post on how to style comfy pants… does this feel like a need to you? Because it’s very cold, and it’s a need to me. HA!
Okay! I hope you all have the best weekend.
xx

Eeek! Thank you for the mention! I love a simple swap to make a huge impact, I find that it also comes in the form of how I did my hair or whether or not I push a sleeve up. I sort of love that something that small can make the difference.
